Olive Giner

Olive is a journalism major and cultural anthropology minor at the University of Nevada, Reno. Olive has always been passionate about outreach and communication, but their education so far at the Reynolds School of Journalism has shown them that a good communicator has the power to give a voice to others.

Throughout their time at the university, Olive has gained valuable experience in student services and engagement—Olive has worked as a Resident Assistant guiding first year students, helped establish the university’s Identities Living Learning Communities, and remains active in their sorority, Kappa Phi Lambda. Olive was also lead copy editor at The Nevada Sagebrush, where they helped the newspaper’s writers produce the best content possible.

When Olive isn’t studying or editing articles, they enjoy listening to new music, catching the latest movie in theaters, and trying new food with friends! Olive values connecting with others and using their individual strengths to contribute to their community.
As a tutor, Olive hopes to show students just how empowering reading and writing can be through engaging with students’ interests and encouraging creativity.
